WSOP 2013 Announced, ElkY Jumps

World Series of Poker 2013 Dates Set

Today, the WSOP announced its summer 2013 Las Vegas tournament dates. The 44th annual series will begin on Wednesday, May 29, and conclude with the final nine of the WSOP Main Event on Tuesday, July 16. The dates are very similar to the previous year, as are the dates of the Main Event itself – July 7 through July 16 – with three starting days.

The Rio Convention Center in Las Vegas will again host the festivities with nearly 500 poker tables set up in multiple ballrooms. The actual schedule is being finalized, but there will be an estimated 60 bracelet events, including fan favorites like the Seniors, Ladies, Charity, and Casino Employees events. Cash games will begin on May 29 and run for 24 hours a day throughout the dates of the WSOP.

For those looking to make hotel and flight reservations to be in Las Vegas for the entire series, now is the time to get those early booking savings.

Online Poker Featured on “The Simpsons”

Poker is making its rounds on American television these days, as “The Simpsons” addresses online poker in its animated television comedy. Character Homer Simpson wins $5,000 in a lawsuit against a restaurant and deposits the money into an online poker account rather than keep it in the bank. He names his account “Lisa Simpson College Fund,” and his daughter then discovers her brother Bart playing online poker with her college money. Lisa takes over the account and begins winning, courtesy of a Jennifer Tilly instructional video, running her account up to more than $360K but loses a high stakes hand with a full house beat by quads. Bart is then discovered to be the player who beat Lisa in the hand, but all of the money was confiscated – except the original $5K – because both children were less than 18 years of age.

ElkY Bungee Jumps

Bertrand Grospellier and Eugene Katchalov have been exercising, hiking, cycling, and traveling the world lately, and Grospellier added another notch on his belt when he recently bungee jumped in the world’s largest one of its kind in Macau. PokerStars.tv has the video to be watched if you’re not scared of heights.
