WSOP Updates as Little One for One Drop Begins

WSOP Event 56: Kachan Collects

The $1K NLHE event that began on Sunday did so with 2,525 players and a $2,272,500 prize pool. Day 3 started with 16 players, found the final table at the expense of tenth place finisher Matt Salsberg, and completed the final table with Mike Kachan soaring to the top.

1st place: Mike Kachan ($403,483)

2nd place: Jeff Blenkarn ($250,815)

3rd place: Eric Shanks ($177,527)

4th place: Andrew Egan ($128,032)

5th place: Viktor Skoldstedt ($93,490)

6th place: Neo Hoang ($69,084)

7th place: Steve Gross ($51,676)

8th place: Richard Milne ($39,109)

9th place: Ray Henson ($29,951)

WSOP Event 58: Down to Two

When the $1,500 Mixed Max tournament began, there were 1,475 players competing nine-handed for pieces of the $1,991,250 prize pool.

Day 2 brought back 181 players at six-handed tables and ended the night with just 10 players remaining and Jared Jaffee in the chip lead.

Day 3 started those 10 players at three tables. Michael Colman was the first to exit for $27,509, and Gustavo Kamei followed. The eight players were then seated at two tables of four each. Anton Smirnov departed, as did Jeff Gross and Brandon Cantu, at which point the final five joined at one table. Xiao Peng took fifth place, and heads-up play began.

Jared Jaffee defeated Joseph Alban, and Mike Watson took out Mark Herm. Those on their way out collected $126,882 each.

Play then started for the final match with Jaffee holding 4,353,000 chips to the 2,298,000 of Watson.

WSOP Event 59: Final Table Underway

The $3K Omaha-8 tournament started on Monday with 457 players and a $1,247,610 prize pool.

Day 2 had 180 survivors, thinned that number to 54 to begin payouts, and continued on until 20 players remained with David Williams atop the leaderboard.

Day 3 saw competitors like Mike Leah, Justin Bonomo, Brett Richey, and Melissa Burr exit in the afternoon, and the unofficial final table began with Ismael Bojang as the chip leader. Don Zewin was one of the short stacks and busted in tenth place for $17,828, allowing the official final table to proceed.

WSOP Event 60: Deep in the Money

The first Tuesday tournament was a $1,500 NLHE, the last one of the year. It brought in 2,563 players for a $3,460,050 prize pool.

Day 2 had 293 players returning and quickly took the top 270 into the money. Some of the early evening eliminations included Alex Bolotin, Paul Berende, and David Peters. With 64 remaining, Gavin O’Rourke had the chip lead.

Event 61: Nearing the Money

The latest in the series of championship events was the $10K Seven Card Stud tournament, which brought in only 102 players for a $958,800 prize pool.

Day 2 brought back fewer than 60 players, and action played down to just 20 of them at the dinner break with Todd Brunson in the lead. Only 16 players will be paid.

New Wednesday Events

Event 62 was the $1,111 buy-in Little One for One Drop, which awards $111 of each buy-in to the One Drop foundation and allows players unlimited reentries for the first four levels. There are also two starting days. Day 1A showed 2,181 players registered and a $1,962,900 prize pool, with just 350 players remaining at 9pm.

Event 63 was a $1,500 10-Game Mix Six-Handed event, and no official numbers were available at 9pm local time.
