Joe Cada’s Dad Shuts Charity Room Doors

Jerry Cada, father of 2009 WSOP Main Event winner Joe Cada, owns Cada’s Poker and Sports Grill in Michigan, closed this week due to an investigation. The charity poker room allegedly has no liquor license, according to the state’s gaming board, but was selling liquor. Charity poker events cannot be scheduled at the Sterling Heights location until license issues are resolved.

Parx Big Stax Main Event Begins

The Parx Casino in Pennsylvania launched its Big Stax series with poker room ambassador Matt Glantz drawing players from around the United States. Some of the better known players on the first day of play included Matt Glantz himself, Brian Lemke, Michael Sica, and Chris Vandeusen. Day 1A attracted a total of 448 players to the $330 buy-in event with a $150K guarantee (reentries allowed). The second day added players like Kyle Bowker, Paul Volpe, and Lana O’Brien. The grand total of players exceeded 800, and the prize pool was yet to be announced.

Glantz has created changes to the Parx room, including a better food menu, free wireless Internet, automatic comps, special poker rates at neighboring hotels, more daily tournaments and cash games, as well as the Big Stax series of tournaments.
