Zinno Wins WPT, Dahrouj Wins LAPT, Lecomte Wins in Cannes

Zinno Beats Selbst at WPT Borgata

The WPT Borgata Poker Open Main Event began on September 15 with its $3,500 buy-in tournament with unlimited reentries. With a total of 1,189 entries, the prize pool soared to $3,805,989, which paid out the top 110 players.

Day 2 whittled the field from 591 players to 174, and Day 3 reduced that number to 36. Day 4 played long into the night before seeing Dan Howe eliminated in seventh place to set the final table.

Action started on September 20 with Cong Pham in the chip lead and Vanessa Selbst in second place. Many changes took place over the course of the 143 hands played, and the final results were as follows:

1st place: Anthony Zinno ($825,099)

2nd place: Vanessa Selbst ($492,569)

3rd place: Cong Pham ($301,225)

4th place: Jeremy Kottler ($251,968)

5th place: David Randall ($208,394)

6th place: Eric Fields ($168,610)

Dahrouj Wins LAPT Panama

Season 6 of the Latin American Poker Tour was in Panama City at the Veneto Wyndham Grand Hotel & Casino, and the LAPT Panama $1,500 reentry Main Event started on September 18.

Day 1A brought in 201 players with 56 making it through the night, and Day 1B added another 332 entries for a grand total of 533 entries and total prize pool of $528K. The top 88 players were to be paid.

Day 2 saw the return of 56 players from Day 1A and 97 from Day 1B, and that number dwindled to only 32 by the end of the night, with all remaining players fairly deep into the money. Galal Dahrouj led the pack with 1,172,000 chips.

Day 3 set the final table of eight players with Galal Dahrouj as the chip leader and Raul Pino on the short stack. Play moved forward until the final three players agreed to chop the prize money based on chip counts at that time, and they left an additional $12K to add to the winner’s take. Ultimately, Dahrouj emerged victorious and took the title and trophy.

3rd place: Jesus Katafi ($106,365)

4th place: Carter Gill ($57,060)

5th place: Paulo Carrillo ($42,960)

6th place: Raul Pino ($32,180)

8th place: Marco Oliveira ($18,080)

Lecomte Wins Unibet Open Cannes

The Unibet Open Cannes offered a series of tournaments to players at the Casino Barriere Le Croisette, with the €1,650 NLHE Freezeout Main Event starting on September 19. The event attracted 313 players for a grand €450,720 prize pool.

Ultimately, the action on September 22 at the final table found one player €100K richer. The results, after more than three hours of heads-up play were as follows:

1st place: Quentin Lecomte (€100,000)

2nd place: Linus Hjulstrom (€69,800)

3rd place: Linas Laurinenas (€44,900)

4th place: Paul Tedeschi (€33,250)

5th place: Thierry Morel (€24,950)

6th place: Joni Salo (€19,950)

7th place: Paul Valkenburg (€16,550)

8th place: Joao Silva (€13,270)

9th place: Dmitry Varlamov (€10,000)
