Afriat Wins Biggest Event in WPT History

There were some big name pros battling for supremacy at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown…

AFRIAT WINS BIG

Eric Afriat GPICanadian Eric Afriat (GPI#2001) wouldn’t let the young guns take the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown title from his hands. Afriat, who would go on heck of a heater to grab the chip lead, would never look back and pickup his first ever victory on the World Poker Tour.

This wasn’t Afriat’s first attempt at WPT gold as the man from Montreal finished 6th at the WPT Bellagio Cup VI back in 2010.

Afriat was only a few weeks removed from a 20th place finish in his hometown card room at WPT National Montreal, presented at the Playground Poker Club.

ALWAYS THE BRIDESMAID

For the second time in five months, Mukul Pahuja (GPI#20) will have to settle for a runner-up finish on the World Poker Tour … but it’s not like it’s bad news.

Add a 4th place finish at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star and an 8th place showing at WPT Lucky Hearts (and why not include a 30th place finish at the L.A. Poker Classic) and you’ve got yourself one hell of a season! Could Pahuja be saving his best for last? The WPT World Championship is right around the corner!
