FPM Aussie Millions: Fantasy Hi-Five

FPM logoWe make our way Down Under for our next FPM tour stop as it’s Aussie Millions time at the Crown Casino in Melbourne! The final Day 1 flight wrapped up about an hour ago as a grand total of 657 players entered this year’s event, including two of the games biggest names: Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu. Sadly, you won’t be able add either star to your FPM team for Melbourne as they each were eliminated during Day 1A play.

DANIEL NEILSON

Daniel Neilson GPILet’s start if off by adding an Aussie pro to the squad. Daniel Neilson recently fell out of the GPI300, but playing in his homeland has us thinking that he’s due for a bounce-back and a deep, deep run at the Aussie Millions.

Neilson is already off to a good start in 2014. He won a 2K NLH Turbo event at the 2014 PCA in the Bahamas and followed that up with a third place showing in the 1K Six-Max event here at the Aussie Millions – plus he’s available at a VERY affordable price.

Ended Day 1 with 120,000 chips (unofficial)

ANNETTE OBRESTAD

Annette Obrestad GPIAny time Annette Obrestad (GPI#1124) starts a Day 2 with chips, we just can’t help ourselves, we need to add her to our team. It’s probably the FPM Market Price that makes us commit to Annette. How can you not add a former major event champion who is known to have world-class skills to the team?

If you had Annette on your team for FPM EPT London early in 2013, then you were rewarded with a deep run in the Main Event – let’s hope that she’s up for the same type of performance here Down Under.

Ended Day 1 with 70,400 chips (unofficial)

TOM ALNER

Tom Alner GPILooking to add someone that won’t bust your budget? Tom Alner (GPI#128) fits the bill! Although Alner doesn’t come that cheap, his salary should be very manageable – especially for a player who has enjoyed some success on the live tournament circuit the past two years.

Alner, who won the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Main Event in August, is also an accomplished online pro who has collected over 1M in online tournament winnings according to our friends at PocketFives.

Ended Day 1 with 120,000 chips (unofficial)

JASON MERCIER

Jason Mercier GPIJason Mercier’s (GPI#26) fall from the top of the GPI300 has been well documented. But we can’t forget that most of his most recent downfall is due to the fact that he took a lot of time off near the end of 2013. Never forget the fact that Mercier was #1 in the world and remains one of the most talented poker players on the live tournament circuit.

You should never count out Mercier when he has chips going into Day 2 and we feel he would make a great addition to any Aussie Millions squad.

Ended Day 1 with 132,200 chips (unofficial)

MAX LEHMANSKI

A FPM team would not be complete without adding a German to the lineup, right? That’s one of the reasons why Maxi Lehmanski (GPI#386) makes our list. His 2013 campaign included two victories and a final table participation in the 25K NLH Six-Max event at the WSOP in Las Vegas.

Oh, did we mention he has a ton of chips heading into Day 2 play?

Ended Day 1 with 176,400 chips (unofficial)
