GPI Player of the Year 2017

Another poker year is in the books! Another poker year where a lead change in the final major series of the season meant yet another exciting finish for Player of the Year. Spaniard standout Adrian Mateos would take the lead from American superstar Bryn Kenney in Prague and would seal the deal with a 26 point victory.

Mateos’ win also earns him GPI European Player of the Year honors. He becomes the first non-German to win the title in GPI history. Marvin Rettenmaier won the Euro title back in 2012; Ole Schemion in 2013 and 2014 and Fedor Holz also went back-to-back winning the last two years (2015, 2016).

On the ladies’ side, Canadian Kristen Bicknell was in total control and wrapped-up a remarkable 2017 season by winning the GPI Female Player of the Year title by 431 points.

Congratulations also go out to poker ambassador extraordinaire Felipe Ramos (GPI Latin American PoY; GPI National Brazil PoY), Pete Chen (GPI Asian PoY; GPI Greater China PoY; GPI Taiwan PoY) and all of the National Players of the Year listed below … on to 2018!
