GPI PROfile: Matthew Waxman

Book another title for poker pro Matthew Waxman (GPI#118) who won the WPT Regional Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘n’ Poker Open” Main Event on Monday. We take a look at Waxman’s career path in this edition of the GPI PROfile:

SUCCESS IN THE SUNSHINE STATE

Matthew Waxman GPIThe Florida poker scene has been in full flux for the past few years and if you’re looking for a poster-boy for the most successful player within the Sunshine State, Waxman may just be that player. His Florida cashes this year have included a 5th place finish at the Battle at the Beach in Pompano Beach, a 3rd place finish at the Isle Open also in Pompano, a score at the 10M Guarantee Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood to go along with his most recent big win on Monday. With success in all parts of the State, Waxman has proven he is one of Florida’s best.

But it’s not all about Florida for Waxman. He won his first WSOP bracelet this summer in Las Vegas when he outlasted fellow pro Eric Baldwin in an epic heads-up matchup when the two battled it out for over seven hours in what was one of the longest heads-up matches in WSOP history.

Waxman, who also won the WPT Grand Prix de Paris back in 2011, is one EPT Main Event victory away from joining poker’s elite in the Triple Crown Club.
