GPI Tournament Report: Barcelona, Florida, Oklahoma + More

We take you to Barcelona, Florida, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Alberta in this week’s GPI Tournament Recap:

EPT BARCELONA SUPER HIGH ROLLER

Vitaly Lunkin GPIRussian Vitaly Lunkin (GPI#634) (pictured, right) won the 50K Super High Roller event at EPT Barcelona over the weekend, defeating legendary pro Erik Seidel (GPI#57) heads-up.

The tournament drew 51 entries including GPI Top 10 ranked players Steve O’Dwyer (GPI#9) and Ole Schemion (GPI#7) who both final tabled the event.

ESTRELLAS BARCELONA

Paul Nunes GPIPokerStars’ Estrellas Poker Tour once again held its ESPT Barcelona events as part of the EPT Barcelona Festival as a record field entered created the biggest 1K buy-in event to ever be held outside of Las Vegas.

Soenke Jahn won the Main Event defeating GPI300 member Paul Nunes (GPI#260) (pictured, right) heads-up.

In the ESPT High Roller event, Jonathan Currie won the event. Aku Joentausta, who was recently featured in our GPI National Finland Top 10 article, finished third and two-time WPT winner Jonathan Little finished in seventh position.

WPT ALPHA8 FLORIDA

Steven Silverman GPISteven Silverman (GPI#13) (pictured, right) pulled ahead of Paul Volpe in the 2013 GPI Player of the Year race with his victory at the inaugural WPT Alpha8 100K buy-in event in Florida.

Silverman defeated J.C. Tran (GPI#165) heads-up. Tran will enter the WSOP November Nine Final Table as the chip leader in two months time. Newly named WPT One to Watch Jeff Gross(GPI#148) and veteran poker pro Matt Glantz (GPI#80) also cashes in the event.

SEMINOLE HARD ROCK POKER OPEN

Blair Hinkle GPIA remarkable 10M USD was promised to those who would cash in the Main Event at the Seminole Hard Rock Open in Hollywood, Florida.

WSOP bracelet winner Blair Hinkle (GPI#438) (pictured, right) defeated Justin Bonomo (GPI#19) heads-up and collected the massive 1.7M USD first prize.

Mukul Pahuja (GPI#328) – fresh off his very recent wedding – and Ray Qartomy (GPI#210) also final tabled the event.

THE RIVER POKER SERIES

Maria Ho GPIKaophone Inthavong won The River Poker Series Main Event.

Meanwhile, Maria Ho (GPI#206) won the 5K buy-in “No Juice” event for over 100K USD … and Ari Engel (GPI#296) continued his fantastic 2013 season by collecting his 31st and 32nd cashes in 2013! Engel finished 30th in the Main Event and collected a third place finish in the 5K buy-in event.

BEAU RIVAGE GULF COAST POKER CHAMPIONSHIP

Beau Rivage GCPCCongratulations to Robert Harwell (GPI#5165) who won $112,351 for his win at the Beau Rivage Gulf Coast Poker Championship in Biloxi, Mississippi.

GPI1000 member Corrie Wunstel (GPI#927), a Louisiana native, was runner-up to Harwell in the Main Event.

EDMONTON POKER CLASSIC

Casino EdmontonAlan Bell won the Edmonton Poker Classic at Casino Edmonton in … you guessed it … Edmonton, Alberta!

Former WSOP bracelet winner, Saskatchewan’s Tyler Bonkowski (GPI#3143), finished seventh in the event.
