Adam Geyer is a relative newcomer to the world of live poker tournaments but has the early results to prove he can make a name for himself. Better known for his online tournament success, he has begun to concentrate more on live poker, and with more than $1,300,000 in career earnings he is here to stay.
Geyer discovered his love for poker while travelling to Vienna, Austria for a college semester. The Austin, TX native would split his time between studying for class and playing poker in the local casinos. His first tournament cash occurred in the winter of 2006 when he finished 14 in a €500 No Limit Hold\’em tournament during the 12th Vienna Spring Poker Festival. Since then he has become a professional without looking back.
Geyer entered his first World Series of Poker Main Event in 2006 and earned his first cash for $26,389. He then spent several years honing his skills against online competition where he produced results which put him among the best in the game. It wasn\\\’t until 2008 Geyer began putting in more time with live poker tournaments.
Geyer earned his first WSOP final table during the summer of 2008, finishing 8th in the $5,000 No Limit Hold\\\’em tournament for $94,481. Following the WSOP, he turned at $1,500 Super Satellite entry into a $15,600 Bellagio Cup IV seat. That investment earned Geyer a 13th place finish for $64,640.
2009 began well for Geyer when he won $85,000 for his 15th place finish in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. After just one cash during the 2009 World Series of Poker, Geyer went on to capture his first title during Bellagio Cup V. He entered the $5,000 No Limit Hold\\\’em preliminary event and was the last player standing for the victory and $212,890.
Geyer would have his best World Series of Poker to date in 2011. Geyer began his summer by just missing the $2,500 8-Game Mix final table with a 9th place finish for $19,268. He followed that result with a 13th place finish in a $1,500 No Limit Hold\\\’em event and a solid cash one of the massive $1,000 No Limit Hold\\\’em tournaments.
Geyer\\\’s closest shot for a WSOP bracelet was in the $5,000 No Limit Hold\\\’em Triple Chance tournament. He made the final table but came up short against Darryl Ronconi and eventual winer Antonin Teisseire. His third place finish did not result in a bracelet but he did add $328,810 to his bankroll.
