Schemion, Selbst Lead EPT10 PoY Race

With only the EPT Sanremo and EPT Grand Final festivals remaining on the Season 10 schedule, things are heating up in the EPT10 Player of the Year race…

SCHEMION, SELBST SHINE

Ole Schemion GPIThe stars are shining at the top of the Season 10 Player of the Year leaderboard. World #1 Ole Schemion (GPI#1) and Vanessa Selbst (GPI#3) sit 1 and 2 in the EPT Player of the Year race.

Schemion, who scored in a 2K side event at EPT Vienna, was able to open up a bigger lead at the top. Selbst, who did not travel to Vienna, trails the German wunderkind by a little over 120 points in the race for first.

Schemion has nine cashes so far this season on the EPT, including triple-scores in Barcelona and at the 2014 PCA. His biggest score of the season came at EPT Prague where he earned 158 points for his 5th place finish in the Main Event. Selbst has earned over 100 points in each of her six EPT PoY scores this season. Her biggest score came in the 25K High Roller event at the 2014 PCA.

THE RACE IS FAR FROM OVER

Mike McDonald GPIBefore you start thinking that this is a two-horse race and the rest of the field has no chance of catching up, this is FAR from the case. Although it will take a bit of work to move past the mighty Ole, there are still tons of points at stake in Sanremo and Monte Carlo.

For example, a win in the EPT Sanremo Main Event (based on Season 9’s total entries) will earn you 194.34 points. Add a few other scores and any member of our Top 10 could find themselves on top.

Important scores at EPT Vienna helped Thomas Muehloecker (GPI#52), 2014 PCA Champ Dominik Panka (GPI#208) and Vienna winner Oleksii Khoroshenin (GPI#147) hold spots inside the Top 10 heading into Sanremo. Each player is expected to compete in Italy so it will surely be interesting to see if any of them can remain on a heater.

The action kicks off at Casino Sanremo next Wednesday with the presentation of the Italian Poker Tour Sanremo Main Event.
