A Euro Tournament Feast: UKIPT, GUKPT & MCOP

UKIPT Bristol Goes off with a Bang

UKIPT Bristol’s main event kicked off yesterday and when the cards were finally in the air a total of 235 runners all prepared to grind through the field and claim the title.

In amongst the hoards of qualifiers were a number of famous faces, including Wednesday’s UKIPT Online Championship second place finisher, Chris Moorman, Sam Grafton, Sam Holden and UK’s GPI#1 Roberto Romanello.

Unfortunately, Roberto couldn’t extend his lead at the top of the national GPI rankings as he and Sam Holden were left lining the rail midway through the day.

Sam Grafton and Chris Moorman did make it through, however, but they were left trailing Newcastle-based cash game specialist Jonathon Prested.

Having enjoyed a rush of cards he bagged 121,300 chips at the end of the day, putting him top of the remaining 109 players.

Today’s session kicked off a little earlier and, as with Day 1A, there was a raft of top pros out to bag some pre-Christmas cash. Indeed, battling out for glory on Day1B is the likes of Liv Boeree, Victoria Coren and Denmark’s top GPI player, Mickey Petersen.

A Sea of Players in Blackpool

While half the UK’s tournament regulars were heading to the docks of Bristol, the rest of the community has flocked to the seaside town of Blackpool. Indeed, today the sound of seagulls will be drowned out by the riffling of poker chips as the annual GUKPT bandwagon rolled into town.

This year’s GUKPT Blackpool event is set to be as hotly contest as last year when Andy Peters walked away with £72,000 after beating Ben Jackson heads-up.

This time around a number of famous faces have chosen the bright lights of Blackpool to try and boost their bankrools, including Stuart Rutter and John Eames.

The action kicked off a little earlier and at the time of writing 99 players had taken their seats for a shot at the title.

A total of nine levels will be played today and re-entries are permitted until level six.

MCOP Latest

Yesterday 128 players became just 29 as the race for the Master Classics of Poker title heated up.

A well stacked field produced some intense poker action throughout the day with Thierry van den Berg, Ramzi Jelassiand Ana Marquezall in action.

Today’s action has been fast-paced throughout, as the players look to bag a spot at the final table before the end of the day.

Indeed, Ramzi Jelassi hit the rail one spot shy of the bubble, before Janno Cazemier became the last person to leave the tournament empty-handed when his pocket queens ran into the pock aces of Bryn Kenney.
