Alpha8 and Poker Night Share Lineups, Billionaire to Build Casino

WPT Alpha8 Florida Confirms Players

The first World Poker Tour Alpha8 high roller tournament is set to begin on August 26 at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida, and many players are already confirmed for their reservations and $100K seats to the tournament. Some of those names released by the WPT include Erik Seidel, Jason Mercier, Joseph Cheong, David Sands, Anthony Gregg, Daniel Alaei, Jason Koon, Daniel Perper, and Thomas Hall.

Poker Night in America Debut Shares Player List

The inaugural episode of the new “Poker Night in America” television show will begin filming on August 8 at Turning State Casino in New York. Rush Street Productions announced the list of players to compete in the $25/$50 NLHE cash game. The list of Las Vegas players flying to the East Coast on a private jet includes David Baker, Shawn Buchanan, Eli Elezra, Layne Flack, Phil Laak, Mike Matusow, David Levi, Greg Mueller, Tom Schneider, Gavin Smith, and David Williams. And out of an open casting call, two more players – Kristy Arnett and Lauren Billings – were chosen to play as well.

Other players who will be on the East Coast and had to Turning Stone to participate are Shaun Deeb, Will Failla, Matt Glantz, Darvin Moon, Dwyte Pilgrim, Dennis Phillips, Amanda Musumeci, and Mike Dentale.

Many of the players will also compete in the $1,500 buy-in NLHE Empire State Poker Classic from August 9 to 12.

Hong Kong Billionaire Wants to Build Aussie Casino

Chinese billionaire from Hong Kong, Tony Fung, proposed an idea for a $4.2 billion resort and casino called Aquis Resort. It would be built at the Great Barrier Reef, just north of Cairns. In addition to the casino, there would be 1,200 apartments, 135 villas, theaters, lagoon, 18-hole golf course, convention center, 25,000-seat sports stadium, and high-end retail shopping.

The project cannot begin until a number of regulatory approvals are obtained, according to the original article.
