Chips Start to Riffle at GUKPT and IPO, Doyle’s Identity Stolen

London Welcomes the GUKPT

The opening Main Event of this season’s GUKPT got underway in London earlier and, in customary fashion, many of the UK’s top grinders were out in force and ready to ante-up the £1,000+£80 entry fee.

Accepting rebuys throughout today’s session and with a guarantee of £200,000, the likes of Andrew Teng, Sky Poker pro Julian Thew and Jeff Kimber have been seen at the felt today with stacks of chips.

Aside from having a shot at a stack of cash and one of the UK’s top domestic titles, Mathew Frankland was seemingly more impressed with the fact he could get free ice cream during the Main Event.

Tweeting earlier, the jovial British pro wrote: “Unlike tournaments ran by @_LoooM_ today I will be getting free ice cream #GUKPT“.

As the action develops it’s likely that more of Europe’s finest grinders will descend upon the UK’s capital and if you want up-to-the-minute reports from the felt, click here.

IPO Galway Gets Underway

BoylePoker’s Irish Poker Open got kicked off earlier today with the first of event in a 12 tournament schedule.

Taking place inside Galway’s Radisson Blu Hotel, the low stakes festival is set to feature a number of reasonably priced side events as well as a €230 Main Event.

On top of that the organisers have thrown in a €750 High Roller for those who have deeper pockets but crave smaller fields.

Each player in the Main Event will start with 30,000 chips and with three starting days on offer the organisers are hoping to get at least 400 runners.

Doyle’s Identity Goes Missing

It appears as though Doyle Brunson’s identity has been stolen. According to a recent tweet, Doyle recently discovered an imposter has been trying to pass himself off as “the Doyle Brunson” in order to obtain bank loans and credit cards.

As yet it’s unclear how the thief got his hands on Doyle’s details, but Doyle has managed to ascertain that the thief has obtained his social security number and credit cards details.

In a bid to stop the imposter in his tracks Doyle sent out a tweet to all “banks, lending institutions and stores” and asked for help in stopping him.
