ElkY Finally Arrives at WSOP

Bertrand Grospellier has been known as ElkY for many years, from his days as a World Cyber Games champion to his career in poker. To the French government, however, he was nothing special.

Since his passport was stolen in Toronto, Grospellier had traveled back to France. While in Paris on May 22, he discovered that he was unable to get in to the government offices until June 20. He requested an emergency passport replacement because poker is his livelihood, and he needed to be in Vegas for the World Series of Poker that started on May 27.

But ElkY has friends in high places. Somehow, he strategized his way into the offices, obtained a new passport, and made it to Las Vegas during the first week of June.

The bad beats kept coming, however, as he tweeted from @elkypoker:

“Just landed in #Vegas and first beat of the series: no bags made it from our flight due to IT failure. #sosick”
