EPT Deauville Latest; IPO Heading to London; DTD DeepStack

Down in Deauville

Liv out on Day 1B

After Liv Boeree’s un-registration/ registration saga yesterday, the push for a place in today’s official second EPT Deauville day was almost an afterthought.

Indeed, while the British beauty commanded much of the media attention when she finally took her seat halfway through Day 1B, David Ostrom was busy collecting 212,600 chips.

The online qualifier from Sweden blasted his way through the 475 player field to finish top of the overall chip counts heading into Day 2.

Joining Ostrom at the felt today is a choice selection of the game’s finest players, including: Jake Cody, Bertrand Grospellier and Roberto Romanello.

With €770,000 on offer for the winner, the action seen today has already been frantic. Indeed, at the time of writing the 419 starters had already been whittled down to under 300.

Payouts begin at 120th place, but it’s unlikely that mark will be breached today.

London to Welcome IPO

The popular International Poker Open is set to visit London in 2013 thanks to a recent announcement by the organisers, Boyle Poker.

Having attracted an impressive 1,148 entrants in Dublin last year, the £225 event will no doubt fill Aspers Casino to the rafters.

Indeed, the combination of small entry fees and huge prizepools has made the IPO one of Europe’s most successful tours in recent years and it’s expected the addition of a London leg will further increase its appeal.

With £5,000 added to the prizepool by Boyle Poker, the event will kick off on April 19th and run for three days through until the 21st.

Dave Dominates at DTD

Dusk Till Dawn‘s regular DeepStack event took place last weekend and, after attracting another health field, it was Dave Nicholson who clinched the title.

The popular UK grinder managed to overcome 526 other players to scoop a top prize of £37,000.

Dave’s win came after a back-and-forth battle with Matt Harris who eventually walked away with £21,000.

Place Name Prize
1st Dave Nichlson £37,000
2nd Matt Harris £21,000
3rd Richard Paul £12,950
4th Alan Stearn £10,100
5th Ben Vinson £7,800
6th Paul Mason £5,800
7th Anthony Soan £4,500
8th Liam Batey £3,600
