EPT Grand Final: Draft Calvin Anderson

FPM logoNOTE: This player has qualified for Day 2 play.  At a little over 198K in chips, he will start Day 2 play third in chips.

I’m not looking to start a debate, but a case can be made that Calvin Anderson (GPI#113) may be the best tournament poker player in the world at the moment.  The proof?  Anderson is the #1 ranked online tournament player according to PocketFives.com’s rating system.

Anderson has earned over 4.1 million dollars playing online tournaments, including a huge 300K USD score in the 1.5M Guarantee event on Full Tilt Poker back in March of 2011.  Team Ivey pro Balazs “birs320” Botond was third in that event.

But Anderson’s successes haven’t just come on the virtual felt.  So far in 2013, Anderson has had a solid run on the live tournament circuit as well, most recently finishing 10th at EPT Berlin.

A few weeks earlier, the young American now making a living in Mexico, final tabled the Irish Open in Dublin on Easter weekend.  Anderson would end up finishing fifth in the event.  He also earned a 76th place finish at the PCA Main Event … in all, over 160K USD In winnings on the live circuit so far this season.

Now in Monaco, Anderson is hoping that his first ever win on the live tournament circuit is a big one as he begins Day 2 play at the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final with the third biggest chip stack.

Despite being in trouble early on Day 1B – as low as 8K –  Anderson found a second and a third gear picking up a huge amount of chips before the end of the day.

Anderson certainly wouldn’t mind the huge score to bring back to Mexico what with the next edition of the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) just days away.

Anderson’s recent successes on the circuit have caused an increase in his FPM Market Price.  Adding him to you club will cost you some, but, the proof is in the pudding when it comes to Calvin!
