EPT Grand Final Preview

Season Nine on the European Poker Tour is about to come to an end as the EPT Grand Final is upon us and many stars of the poker world are in Monte Carlo to play a full slate of events.

Mohsin Charania GPIReigning EPT Grand Final Champion Mohsin Charania (GPI#17) is in Monaco to defend his title as Day 1A play is underway at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel.

Charania’s momentous victory was certainly one of the most exciting moments of the 2012 season on the live tournament circuit.

But last year’s edition of the EPT Grand Final was filled with huge news stories, including Daniel Negreanu’s (GPI#37) great run in both the 25K High Roller and the 100K Super High Roller event.  Kid Poker finished 6th in the SHR as Justin Bonomo (GPI#43) picked up the huge win.

Just a few days later, Negreanu would make it all the way to heads-up play in the High Roller event; however Igor Kurganov (GPI#20) would get the best of Negreanu in the end.  Still, over €900,000 for a week’s work?  We’re sure the recent WSOP APAC Main Event Champ will take it!

ElkY GPIBut certainly the man who grabbed most of the headlines down in Monte Carlo was 2012 GPI Player of the Year Dan Smith (GPI#15) who made history by winning three €5,000 No Limit Hold’Em events in a single week!  That performance skyrocketed Smith’s name in all Player of the Year races for 2012.

The € 10,000 + € 600 Grand Final, as mentioned, is already underway.

There are about 50 other events taking place in a little over a week including the return of the 25K High Roller and the 100K Super High Roller events.

Season 9 on the EPT is about to wrap-up and what better way to conclude than a visit to amazing Monte Carlo – best of luck to all the participants!
