EPT Moves Berlin Tour Stop to Vienna

Those hoping to visit Berlin while following the EPT circuit will have to change their plans…

ON THE MOVE

The European Poker Tour announced earlier today that Season 10’s Berlin tour stop has moved to Vienna, Austria.

The EPT Vienna Festival will be taking place between March 19-29, 2014 at the Hofburg Palace, located in the centre of Vienna.

EPT President Edgar Stuchly: “Due to a variety of issues in Berlin, and a unique opportunity in Vienna, we have decided to change the location of the sixth EPT stop this year.” “The Hofburg Palace is a spectacular venue with a grand history, and moving the EPT there enables us to offer a great player experience. The venue can fit over 100 tables and we will be able to provide an amazing tournament schedule with a wide variety of games, and the convenience of hosting tournaments and cash games in one place, all operated by the EPT.”

BACK TO VIENNA

This is not the first time that the EPT has been to Vienna. The Vienna tour stop has been on the EPT calendar on a few different occasions, most recently back in 2010 where on Halloween night Germany’s Michael Eiler (GPI#3094) defeated Czech player Martin Hruby (GPI#30017) to win the title in Season 7.

Chasing poker’s elusive Triple Crown, the current #1 ranked player on the GPI and the 2013 GPI Player of the Year Leaderboard, Daniel Negreanu (GPI#1), would end up finishing in fourth position in the event. The €5,300 Main Event prize pool attracted 578 players and offered a prize pool just short of €3,000,000.
