EPT San Remo by PokerStars.com – Day 1A: The Numbers

sign

It’s been a long day that’s seen players come, players go and copious amounts of pasta consumed on the dinner break. So far San Remo demonstrated why, despite its somewhat awkward location, it’s one of the best tournament stops on PokerStars’ EPT.

A sea of talent has washed over the San Remo Casino today and, at the close of play, a scattering of famous faces have poked their heads above the hoard of locals. Among those still in the hunt for an EPT title and a shot at traversing up the GPI rankings is David Vamplew.

The Scottish pro has already tasted EPT success in London back in 2010 and has so far bagged 1,354.21 GPI points, which is good enough to put him 13th on the UK rankings. However, a win for the Scot will see him sail into the top ten and challenge the likes of Jake Cody, Sam Trickett and Toby Lewis.

day 1a end

In order for the mighty to rise an equally strong army of players must fall and today’s action left a rail littered with chip-less heroes. Shannon Shorr, Joe Hachem and Jack Ellwood were all unable to navigate their way through the minefield of local maniacs and seasoned pros.

For those that have fallen and those that have survived a day of rest awaits tomorrow, as a fresh batch of hopefuls take to the felt. Around 500 players are expected tomorrow, with the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Liv Boeree and this year’s 10th place WSOP Main Event finisher Gaelle Baumann all expected to make an appearance.

Join the GPI for all the latest news and gossip from Day 1B of PokerStars’ EPT San Remo.
