Eureka Prague Latest, Genting Poker Series Finale, StarCraft Player Turns Poker Pro

Eureka Prague’s Finale Poised

Yesterday saw the final table of this year’s Eureka Prague Main Event formed and when the chips had finished flying it was Ami Barer leading the way. Having made his way past more than 1,300 players, Barer was able to outlast the likes of Mattias De Meuler, Kevin MacPhee and Chris Moorman in the final stages of the tournament to start today’s finale with the dominant stack.

Having raked in more than $5.5 million at the online felt over the last few years it was safe to say that Barer was used to the pressure of final tables. However, when things kicked off earlier he was faced with a tough task as the route to the title and €226,400 top prize was blocked by the likes of Mark Dalimore, Stephen Chidwick and Marcin Horecki.

At the time of writing both Horecki (7th – 30,500) and Dalimore (5th – 53,500) had bitten the dust but Chidwick and Barer were still fighting in the final three.

Pro Gamer Joins Poker Community

Following in the footsteps of Bertrand Grospellier, StarCraft superstar Lim Yo-Hwan is looking to become a world-class poker pro in his own right.

Known in the gaming world as ‘BoxeR’ and recently voted as one of the most influential gamers of all time by MTV, Lim will be anteing up at some of the biggest tournaments in the world, including the WSOP, next year.

At present the South Korean gamer reportedly make $500,000-a-year playing StarCraft and he’s arguably one of the most recognisable players in the world.

Whether Lim can become as much of a success as ‘ElkY’ remains to be seen, Lim feels that he’ll be able to bring a “healthy sport culture” to the poker world.
