GPI First Look: partypoker Premier League VII

For the first time ever, the partypoker Premier League will be held in North America as the Playground Poker Club outside of Montreal is set to host the seventh edition…

READY FOR KICKOFF

partypoker Premier LeagueThe 12-player field have paid their $125,000 entry fee and are ready to do battle as action at the Playground Poker Club is set to kickoff later today with eight players set to do battle in Heat #1. The format is a little different than it was last year as the players are no longer split into two groups instead all 12 players will play in six eight-handed matches and will collect points based on their finishing position and be ranked in a single-standings format.

The top four players overall – after the completion of the six-heat schedule – will automatically qualify for the final table. The next four players will play in best-of-three heads-up matches with the two survivors joining the first four at the final table of six. The bottom four players following the six heats will not have the opportunity to play their way to the final table, it will be the end of the road for them.

Players will earn $2,000 for each point they accumulate during league play totalling $100,000 per heat. The remaining 900K will be reserved for final table play with the winner of the partypoker Premier League VII taking home an additional 400K to the money he or she will have accumulated during heats 1-6.
