GPI First Look: PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA)

Time to kickoff the first Main Event of the 2014 poker season in the beautiful Bahamas:

THE STARS ARE OUT

Dan Shak GPIA minimum of 575 have already registered to play the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure … but don’t worry, there are many more to come. For most, the journey to the Bahamas has been quite a challenge. With massive amounts of delays and cancellations all over North America, making your way to the tournament area at the Atlantis Resort will feel like a win!

But the stars are out, and they’re here. The PCA series started on Sunday with the presentation of the 100K buy-in Super High Roller event. Two days later, the final table is set and it sure seems like it will be one for the ages! Led by Dan Shak and Vanessa Selbst, the winner will take home over 1.6M USD. Selbst and Ole Schemion are both ranked in the GPI Top 10 and could very well make a significant push inside the standings when all is said and done later today…

Vanessa Selbst GPIPCA 100K SHR – Final Table Chip Counts:
1st ››  Dan Shak  |  3,700,000 chips
2nd ››  Vanessa Selbst  |  3,645,000
3rd ››  Antonio Esfandiari  |  2,830,000
4th ››  Fabian Quoss  |  2,650,000
5th ››  Matt Glantz  |  480,000
6th ››  Anthony Gregg  |  410,000
7th ››  Ole Schemion  |  280,000

DANCHEV LOOKING TO REPEAT

Dimitar Danchev GPI2013 PCA Champ Dimitar Danchev (GPI#58) will be back to defend his crown later today with the hopes of going back-to-back. Danchev defeated an all-star final table cast in order to win his first major title last January. WPT Season XI standout Jonathan Roy, Owen Crowe, Yann Dion, Joel Micka and Andrey Shatilov all challenged Danchev for the crown in 2013.

Tons of other big names had deep runs in 2013. Robert Mizrachi, Darren Elias, Michael Robert Mizrachi GPILipman, Manig Loeser, Eddy Sabat, Olivier Busquet and former EPT Grand Final winner Mohsin Charania all earned Top 20 finishes last season.

12 of the Top 15 players on the GPI are confirmed for the event including World #1 Daniel Negreanu, Schemion, Marvin Rettenmaier, Philipp Gruissem and Bryn Kenney.
