BACK FOR MORE

Eugene Katchalov GPIAfter a few years of less than stellar results on the live tournament circuit, Eugene Katchalov is looking to set things straight in 2014, and if his second place finish at EPT Deauville over the weekend is any indication, the Team PokerStars Pro is well on his way back to the top.

Katchalov big score in Deauville was the most profitable on tour in over two years. Katchalov has twice collected over 2M USD in winnings in a single season, both in 2007 and in 2011. His first career cash came in 2004 at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio in Las Vegas … he would win that same tournament three years later for the biggest score of his career, over 2.4M USD.

Eugene Katchalov GPIA win for Katchalov in Deauville would have been extra special as he would have been included in poker’s elusive Triple Crown Club, joining best friend ElkY, who gained entry into the club back in 2011 when he won a WSOP bracelet in a Seven-Card Stud event. Katchalov, a Ukrainian-born US citizen, owns a WSOP bracelet of his own to go along with his WPT title.

Thanks to his Deauville score, Katchalov’s ranking should get a boost later this week once the latest list is released – stay tuned!
