GPI Tournament Report: Atlantic City, Kiev, Las Vegas + More!

We take you to Atlantic City, Kiev, Las Vegas, Colorado, Biloxi, Senegal and Belgium in this week’s GPI Tournament Recap:

BORGATA POKER OPEN 1,500 EVENT

Matt Salsberg GPIAdd another victory to Matt Salsberg’s (GPI#58) scorecard! As the WPT Borgata Poker Open Main Event got underway on Sunday, Salsberg was busy winning the 1,500 NLH Event, defeating fellow WPT Season XI final table member Jesse Yaginuma (GPI#287) heads-up … a third member of the GPI300, Michael Gagliano (GPI#275) also final tabled the event.

Others winners from the Borgata series include: Brian O’Donoghue (GPI#1337) won the 1K Six Max event … Kevin Saul (GPI#382) defeated David Paredes (GPI#382) in the 2K Heads-Up event … we covered Will Failla’s (GPI#74) win in the 1K NLH event in last week’s report.

EURASIAN POKER TOUR KIEV

Marvin Rettenmaier GPIThe #1 poker player in the world made his way to Kiev in the Ukraine to play his latest tournament on the live circuit … and won it! Marvin Rettenmaier (GPI#1) continued to dominate the tour by winning the Eurasian Poker Tour Kiev event over the weekend.

Mad Marvin defeated Emil Eranosyan (GPI#4526) heads-up … Ukrainian pro Ivan Sheptytskyi (GPI#1623) was eighth.

FESTA AL LAGO CHAMPIONSHIP

David Sands GPIDavid “Doc” Sands (GPI#11) picked up the W at the Festa Al Lago Championship at Bellagio in Las Vegas defeating Matthew O’Donnell (GPI#663) heads-up. Sands needed the victory to keep pace with the rest of the players at the top of the GPI standings as there has been plenty of movement at the top of the charts lately.

Frank Rusnak (GPI#115) and Alexander Condon (GPI#405) also cashed in the Championship event.

HPT COLORADO

Kevin Eyster GPIMonster numbers once again at the Golden Gates Casino as the Heartland Poker Tour once again set records for their latest visit to Black Hawk, Colorado.

Over 1 million dollars were on the line and Richard Monroe (GPI#28723) won the lion’s share of the prize pool! Defending WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Champion Kevin Eyster (GPI#309) final tabled the event. Eyster (pictured, right) would end up finishing in seventh position.

WSOP CIRCUIT BILOXI

WSOPC LogoThere was quite the buzz at the Main Event final table at WSOP Circuit Biloxi on Monday as “Boston” Rob Mariano (GPI#-) – who won American reality television series “Survivor” a few years back – secured a third place finish and will be ranked on the Global Poker Index for the first time of his part-time poker career.

Martin Zenter (GPI#25874) ended up winning the event.

DAKAR POKER TOUR VI

Samuel Chartier GPIA crazy story from the Dakar Poker Tour stop as father and son fought for the title in the Main Event! Pierre Daw (GPI#13280) ended up being crowned the winner of the event while his father, Philippe took home the second place prize. Moroccan player Hassan Fares (GPI#1306) final tabled the Main.

But Daw (son) wasn’t done yet! He went on to also win the High Roller event, defeating Canadian pro Samuel Chartier (GPI#362) (pictured, right) heads-up for another title! Daw would win over €55,000 for his week’s work in Dakar!

BELGIAN POKER CHALLENGE

BPC LogoJulien Lannoy (GPI#-) won the Belgian Poker Challenge over the weekend. Vincent Verdickt (GPI#1296) finished seventh in the event.
