GPI Tournament Report: WSOPE, Isle Open, WSOPC Hammond, ACOP Warmup + More

We take you to France, Florida, Indiana, Macau and Iowa in this week’s GPI Tournament Recap:

WORLD SERIES OF POKER EUROPE

Daniel Negreanu GPIWorld Series of Poker Europe wrapped-up on Friday with Spain’s Adrian Mateos Diaz (GPI#406) winning the Main Event and becoming the second Spaniard to ever win a WSOP bracelet. Mateos Diaz beat out French superstart Fabrice Soulier (GPI#286) heads-up.

Daniel Negreanu (GPI#8) also won big at this year’s edition of the WSOPE. Kid Poker won the High Roller event earning the sixth bracelet of his career and earning the title of WSOP Player of the Year for the 2013 campaign.

ISLE OPEN 2013

Matt Waxman GPISome of Florida’s biggest names scored big at the 2013 Isle Open as Jay Romano (GPI#32023) earned the biggest piece of the prize pool winning the event. WSOP bracelet winner and WPT Champions Club member Matt Waxman (GPI#123) finished third in the event and, fresh off his WSOP bracelet win in Enghien-les-Bains, Noah Schwartz (GPI#6) who like Waxman also holds a WPT title, finished sixth in the event.

GPI300 member Jerry Wong (GPI#296) and circuit veteran Maurice Hawkins (GPI#488) also earned Top 10 finishes.

WSOP CIRCUIT HORSESHOE HAMMOND

Kevin Eyster GPIAnother HUGE turnout at the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond in Indiana as James Dorrance outlasted over 1,700 other opponents to win the title. Dorrance defeated David Cossio (GPI#1909) heads-up to win over 400K USD for the win.

WPT Seminole Hard Rock Champ Kevin Eyster (GPI#433) finished sixth in the event. The online star also earned a Top 10 finish in the 25K NLH 6-Max event at the WSOP this past summer … so far in 2013, Eyster has earned just under 900K USD.

ACOP WARM-UP

Tom Alner GPIThe Main Event at the Asia Championship of Poker is underway in Macau. The popular Warm-Up event was played over the weekend where Jian Yang (GPI#4742) won the event. Billy Argyros (GPI#966) earned a fourth place finish in the 338-player event.

GPI300 member Tom Alner (GPI#215), who won Macau’s Red Dragon event in August, finished seventh in the Warm-Up.

HPT IOWA

HPT LogoThe Heartland Poker Tour headed to Iowa for its latest tour stop. Chris Louviere won the event. Meanwhile, a pair of former Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) winners final tabled the event as Terry Ring (GPI#9626) and Andrew Vanblair (GPI#8127) finished third and fourth respectively.
