GPI300: All Calm Up Top, Jaffee Rises, Smith Falls

A quiet week for most at the top of the GPI300 this week:

VIEW FROM THE TOP

Daniel Negreanu GPIMake it five weeks in a row at #1 for Daniel Negreanu (GPI#1, -) who gets to enjoy the rest of his self-induced November break. There was no change amongst the Top 5 this week … in fact, it was a fairly quiet week inside the Top 10 this week, but there were a few:

David Peters (GPI#6, +1) and Bryn Kenney (GPI#7, -1) switch spots this week … Like Peters, Jonathan Duhamel (GPI#9, +1) also moves up a spot in the rankings.

After a week away, Jason Mercier (GPI#10, +1) is back where he belongs inside the Top 10 … meanwhile, David Sands (GPI#18, -9) takes a huge drop this week.

SWIMMING UPSTREAM

Jared Jaffee GPIAs expected, WPT bestbet Jacksonville Fall Poker Scramble winner Jared Jaffee (GPI#99, +34) is one of the biggest movers for the second straight week. Jaffee big moves have allowed him to enter the Top 100 for the first time of his career on the live tournament circuit.

It has certainly been a good couple of months for Nicolau Villa-Lobos (GPI#146, +52). The Brazilian pro was ranked #3395 at the start of September but has been on a mission since then moving up over 3,200 spots since then.

DOWN THE LADDER

Gavin Smith’s (GPI#282, -99) final table finish last year at WPT Montreal entered a new Aging Factor period this week, causing Smith to slide almost 100 spots in the standings. The good news for Smith is that he’ll have a chance to gain those points right back as this year’s edition of WPT Montreal starts later this week.

Smith wasn’t the only WPT champ to take a tumble this week as fellow WPT Champions Club members Rocco Palumbo (GPI#217, -25) and Andrey Pateychuk (GPI#267, -24) were also part of the list of players on a downswing inside the 300.

IN-N-OUT

Mihai Manole GPITwo scores in St. Maarten – including a final table finish at WPT Caribbean – allowed Mihai Manole (GPI#177, +141) to make a huge jump back inside the GPI300 this week. Manole had been a regular member of the GPI300 for over 20 months before slipping outside last week … surely didn’t take long for the Romanian pro to jump back in.

David Diaz, Stephen Bokor, Florens Feenstra and Leo Fernandez also enter the 300 this week.

Ronnie Bardah GPIIt’s been a tough battle for Jack Salter (GPI#312, -14) the past few weeks. After making his way into the GPI300 for the first time of his career just a few weeks ago, it’s been in and out and in and out again for the UK pro.

A foursome of Americans also find their way out this week: Hiren Patel, Ronnie Bardah, Mukul Pahuja and Darren Elias.
