GUKPT Luton Main Event Begins, Randy Lew’s Proposal

Stars Descend on Luton for GUKPT Main Event

The GUKPT’s bandwagon rolled into Luton earlier today for the opening day of its £1,000 Main Event. Always one of the tour’s busiest stops, GUKPT Luton has an illustrious list of past winners that includes: Sam Trickett (2008), Neil Channing (2010) and Chaz Chattha (2011).

Trying to follow in the footsteps of these previous champions is the likes of Julian Thew, Simon Deadman and Sam Grafton as they are all part of the 79 players who have registered so far today.

Indeed, with the dinner break fast approaching a total of 6 players have re-entered which means more than £80,000 has already been added to the prizepool.

Level one saw two players, Terry Jordan and Kevin Owen, hit the rail but it was the former who can already claim to be the day’s unluckiest competitor. Having re-bought after his early exit, Jordan soon found himself involved in a three-way all-in with Mitch Johnson and Alex Bounsall.

Despite holding a strong hand (pocket tens), Jordan was in severe trouble against Johnson’s pocket kings and Bounsall’s A-K. Indeed, as the board ran out: 3 6 2 A 7 it was Bounsall who took the main pot whilst Johnson claimed the side pot and the scalp of Jordan who found himself without chips for the second time in less than an hour.

At the time of writing the players were currently enjoying a dinner break and currently amongst the largest stacks in the room was Timotheos Timotheou with 43,000. However, his position is by no means secure as the like of Thew (24,000), Leon Louis (12,000) and Grafton were all still in contention.

Randy Lew’s Getting Married

Randy Lew might be known as one of the world’s busiest grinders, but in last night he found some time to stop grinding and ask the most important question of his life.

Having been with his girlfriend for a number of years Randy decided to make her a permanent fixture of his life by asking her to marry him.  Although there was some early suspicions that this could have been a bluff it soon became clear he was serious and after a brief sweat Randy’s partner eventually said yes.

Following the acceptance of his off Randy took to Twitter to make the news official and post a picture of the ring.

A wave of congratulatory messages followed with one well-wisher wondering whether or not Randy’s future bride will adopt the title “Mrs. Nanonoko Lew”.
