GUKPT Travels North of the Border, PKR Live Result
GUKPT Heads to Scotland
On Wednesday Grosvenor’s latest GUKPT festival will head north of the border to Scotland for the inaugural Edinburgh Poker Festival.
Set in the quaint surroundings of the Scottish capitals Grosvenor Casino, the four day series will feature a £550 Main Event complete with a £100,000 guaranteed prizepool.
So far this season the GUKPT has seen a slew of bumper fields take to the felt in search of a national title, including the most recent winner Rhys Jones who beat Simon Deadman heads-up in Manchester.
Aside from offering a bundle of chances for players to boost their bankrolls, GUKPT Edinburgh will provide the first live outing for the tour’s recent signees: the Poker Mob.
Featuring Joe Beevers, Barny Boatman and Ross Boatman, the “mob” will join other GUKPT regulars, including recent PKR Live winner Jeff Kimber, when the action gets underway on Wednesday.

Kimber Takes PKR Title
The ever-popular PKR Live Main Event came to a conclusion on Sunday and when the dust had settled and Dan O’Callaghan had been sent to the rail it was Jeff Kimber who stood victorious.
A circuit regular for a number of years now, Jeff managed to add another notch and £11,248 to his poker CV after conquering PKR’s first ever mix match format.
Taking place inside Aspers Casino, London, and featuring 178 players, the $500 tournament saw players compete in a full ring format on Day 1 before the action switched to six-max on Day 2.
The handful of survivors on Day 2 were then seeded according to the size of their stacks and pitted against a player heads-up on Day 3. From here the field was whittled down in a mano-a-mano way until only Kimber and O’Callaghan remained.
At the start of the final battle it was O’Callaghan that led the way with a four-to-one chip lead. However, with 50 big blinds left Kimber still had some room to manoeuvre and eventually reversed the deficit before the pair agreed to speed up the action by setting the blind levels at 30 minutes.
By now, Kimber had moved into the lead and went on to scoop the final pot and clinch the latest PKR Live title after getting his money all-in with pocket aces on the final hand.
More Poker in Russia’s Future
Russia considering the idea of a “gambling zone” in Crimea according to a recent article by Bloomberg. After speaking with four unnamed sources, the article has revealed that Russian officials are considering a new gambling infrastructure in Crimea.
Aside from being seen as an economic stimulus, it’s hoped the new provisions could lead to a surge in gamblers and gambling revenue across Russia.
At present gambling is illegal across Russia except for in four regions, but if the recent speculation is true then this number could increase and spawn a new wave of live and online poker players.
