Holland Wins in LA, Borgata Bubble Bursts

Randy Holland wins L.A. Poker Open

The Commerce Casino in Los Angeles wrapped its L.A. Poker Open with the $1,600 NLHE Main Event, and from 364 players, Randy Holland emerged victorious.

The $546K prize pool allowed more than $100K to be set aside for the winner, and the final table was Randy Holland in control with six players remaining as the evening of Monday, November 19, wore on. When it got to heads-up play, Holland had the lead over Malik Adawi when they made a deal, and Adawi ended up in second place with $95,250. Randy Holland claimed the title and $110K even.

Borgata Poker Bursts Bubble

The Borgata in Atlantic City hosted the Fall Poker Open series this month and was in the process of wrapping it up with the $2,700 reentry Main Event. Day 1A had ended with 58 players and Vinny Pajuha and Matt Stout as the chip leaders, respectively. Day 1B ended on Monday with 2012 WSOP Main Event final table player Michael Esposito as the chip leader with 336,800, for which he was awarded the $3K bonus, and Wu Zhou was in second place for the $2K money.

Day 2 started with 187 players remaining of the 644 total, and the money bubble was on tap to break into the $1.61 million prize pool. Only 63 players were paid, and some who exited just before that included Will Failla, Wu Zhou, Mike Sica, Matt Brady, and Amnon Filippi.  After more than an hour of bubble play, Ron Pease left in 64th place to guarantee $5,276 each for the rest of the field.
