HPT Adds Second Cruise

After the success of the 2013 cruise, the Heartland Poker Tour announced another partnership with Card Player Cruises for January 2014. The Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas ship will sail from Orlando, Florida, through the Caribbean with several stops along the way. The seven-day cruise begins on January 12, and the poker action will include a $1,650 Main Event.

Event 9: $3,000 NLHE Shootout (Day 3 of 3)

Prize pool: $1,302,210

The third round and final table began with fairly close chip counts and ended with a long but solid heads-up match, resulting in a second bracelet for the man known as JohnnyBax.

Day 3 started with 19 players, and with the eliminations of players like Jeff Shulman and ultimately Ahmed Mohamed in tenth place, the final table was set. Mark Mierkalns was the chip leader and did make it to heads-up play but at a chip deficit to Brent Wheeler.

Event 11: $2,500 NLHE 6-Handed (Day 2 of 3)

Players: 924

Prize pool: $2,102,100

Players paid: 108

Day 2 began with 122 players, quickly burst through the money bubble, and thinned the field to only 32 players at the dinner break, at which point Peter Turmezey was the chip leader with 525K.

Event 12: $1,500 PLHE (Day 1 of 3)

Players: 535

Prize pool: $722,250

Players paid: 54

Day 1 thinned the field to 72 players in Level 10, and the money bubble approached in the late evening hours.

Event 13: $5,000 7-Card Stud H/L 8-or-Better (Day 1 of 3)

Players: 210

Prize pool: $987,000

Players paid: 24

Day 1 saw the players exit slowly, as there were still 168 of them left at the last break of the night.

Event 14: $1,500 NLHE (3-day) beginning at 12:00pm PT

Event 11 will play to a winner.

Events 12 and 13 will play the second of three days.
