Merson et al Make Main Event Day 3 & Shamballa to Sponsor EPT

Pros Survive Main Event’s Second Day

A second day of WSOP Main Event action saw the survivors from Days 1A and 1B return to the felt for another round of bracelet action.

Splitting the 1,890 players into two different cohorts, Day 2A and 2B saw a slew of pros make it through their respective sessions while almost as many hit the rail.

Coming through the dual day with the largest chip stack was Nick Schwarmann. After bagging 413,600 chips, the American grinder came through Day 2B with a largest enough stack to finish ahead of Day 2A’s leading light, Jason DeWitt (382,900).

While Schwarmann and DeWitt were bagging big stacks, a chasing pack containing a host of world-class players were nipping at their heels.

Indeed, alongside the likes of Doyle Brunson (224,000), Sorel Mizzi (143,900), Annette Obrestad (196,000) and Phil Galfond (135,000) was defending champion Greg Merson.

Last year’s winner grinded his way through Day 2A’s field to finish with 275,600 chips which was enough to leave him in 11th place on his respective leaderboard.

Today’s batch of survivors will have a day to rest while Day 2C takes place tomorrow and the Main Event moves another step closer to a conclusion.

Shamballa Add Some Sparkle to the EPT

Shamballa Jewels will partner with the EPT for the fourth time it’s been announced. According to the tour’s President, Edgar Stuchly, the luxury jewellery designer will be the official sponsor of Season 10’s Super High Roller events, furnishing each winner with an exclusive bracelet.

Indeed, set with black diamonds and made with white gold, each bracelet will be engraved with the EPT logo and worth €10,000.

Shamballa will join Skrill and Slyde watches on the official roster of sponsors for the forthcoming season which kicks off on August 27 in Barcelona.

Commenting on the renewed partnership, Shamballa’s Mikkel Kornerup said:

It was an easy choice for us to renew the sponsorship for Season 10 and we couldn’t be happier about our partnership with the EPT. There is a natural fit between the two brands, which has been confirmed over the last three seasons of sponsorship, and we look forward to awarding the winners of the Super High Roller tournaments with something truly unique to celebrate their success.”
