Nock Wins Sky Poker UKPC Title

Busy Day at Sky Poker’s UKPC

The Sky Poker UKPC was a hive of activity yesterday as a number of the UK’s top pros descended upon Nottingham’s Dusk Till Dawn to shoot for a slice of the £500,000 Main Event prizepool.

However, before Day 1A could steal the limelight, the £3,000 High Roller was coming to a conclusion. Indeed, after cutting the field from 77 to a handful of player on Tuesday, yesterday’s session saw the final few players battle it out for a UKPC bracelet and £61,000.

With the likes of Chris Brammer and Sam Trickett in contention the going was always going to be tough for those still involved, but by the time everyone else had fallen by the wayside it Jeremy Nock and Zimnan Ziyard left fighting for the title.

Having both enjoyed success on the European circuit the race for the finish line was always going to be a close one and as the action wore on it became clear that neither player was willing to relinquish their chips easily.

However, as the blinds increased and the three-hour mark passed something had to give and after mounting pressure Ziyard finally relented and allowed Nock to sweep in and take the final pot as well as the Sky Poker UKPC High Roller title.

Whilst the High Roller was coming to a conclusion, 187 players were making their bids for a place in Day 2 of the £1,100 Main Event. The bustling field saw a number of qualifiers mixing it up; however, as the action began to intensify, it was the likes of JP Kelly, Barny Boatman and Marcel Luske who began to thrive.

As things progressed it was Boatman who would enjoy the biggest rush of cards and by the time the day came to a close he’d managed to secure the overall lead with 321,300 chips.

That haul was enough to put him ahead of some notable pros, including Patrick Leonard, Paul Jackson, Jeff Kimber and Mathew Frankland.

Today will see Day 1B get underway with even more players expected to take to the felt.
