Poker Movie Ready, Glantz Talks Reentries

Poker Documentary Readies for June Release

The online poker documentary known for several years as “BOOM” is nearly ready for a 2013 release, and the name has been changed to “Bet Raise Fold.” It was their first working title and now the final one to represent the film.

With a focus on three professional poker players, the documentary tells their stories and that of online poker, as it grew from the time of the poker boom, courtesy of Chris Moneymaker’s WSOP Main Event win in 2003, and suffered because of Black Friday when the US Department of Justice cracked down on the Internet Gaming Industry in 2011.

Matt Glantz Gives Insight into Reentry Tournaments

Poker pro Matt Glantz is often outspoken and respected for his opinions in poker. He decided to take a look at the new trend of reentry tournaments and whether they are good or bad for the game.

Through his own experience and some statistics from recent tournaments he hosted at Parx Casino, he determined that the increased prize pools from reentries are good for all involved. And while some players at each final table he examined rebought at least once, the majority of top finishers were single entry players. He determined that positives outweigh the negatives in reentry tournaments, but he also recognizes the differences between the viewpoints of professional versus recreational players.
