Premier League: Koon Takes Early Lead After Heat 2 W

Heat 2 play at the partypoker Premier League wrapped up late last night at the Playground Poker Club outside of Montreal with Jason Koon’s victory…

KOON TAKES EARLY LEAD

Jason Koon (GPI#20) was the big winner during Heat 2 play. Not only did he defeat Premier League V winner Scott Seiver (GPI#16) heads-up to win the heat, his 14 points allowed him to take the overall lead in standings through Heat 2 play. Koon finished sixth in his first heat on Wednesday giving him a total of 17 total points, one better than Daniel Cates (GPI#29943) who has 16 total points through two heats played.

Still, WPT One to Watch Jeff Gross (GPI#101) is in the pole position despite coming into Friday’s action in third place. Gross, who won the first heat, has 14 total points and has played one less heat than Koon and Cates – a big result during Heat 3 play would see Gross take a big lead.

HEAT 3 PREVIEW

Koon and Gross will get to do battle for the second time in three heats with a firm lock on first place possibly on the line. Gross remains the only undefeated player through two heats; after a win on Wednesday, he was off on Thursday.

Jonathan Duhamel, Sorel Mizzi, Daniel Shak, Phil Laak, Vanessa Selbst and Dan Colman all join Koon and Gross at the table tonight. Koon will be the only player having played all three heats after the completion of Friday’s action, he will need to pickup as many points as possible since he will only be playing one of the final three sessions.

Antonio Esfandiari, Daniel Cates, Brian Rast and Scott Seiver all get Friday night off … we’re sure they’ll find something to do in Montreal!
