Premier League: Sorel Mizzi Comes Out on Top

It’s all over! Sorel Mizzi is the partypoker Premier League Champion…

SOREL SPECTACULAR

Sorel Mizzi GPICongratulations to Sorel Mizzi (GPI#13) who continues a very solid 2013 campaign with the big win in Montreal at the partypoker Premier League. Mizzi would come into final table play third in chips as the final six players played down to a winner on Tuesday.

Mizzi gained a sizeable advantage on the field late when he eliminated Dan Colman who had held the chip lead for most of the night. Mizzi would face Jeff Gross heads-up. Gross did make a game of the heads-up match, getting almost even in the match on a few different occasions. But, in the end, Mizzi would end up the winner.

Sorel Mizzi GPIMizzi earned a total of $466,000 … 400K for the win and 66K was earned during league play. Mizzi is one of only four of the 12 players to have secured a profit in the 125K buy-in event. This includes Scott Seiver whose fourth place finish earned him a 5K profit! Jason Koon, who had some great moments during this edition of the Premier League would up down 7K … the biggest loser on the felt was Vanessa Selbst who takes a $107,000 hit after finishing 12th overall.

Earlier in the day, Seiver eliminated Jonathan Duhamel in the final heads-up second-chance match. Koon had defetead Daniel Cates in the first heads-up match late on Monday night.

Most of these players will remain in Montreal to play WPT Montreal which starts on Friday … besides, with all the snow currently falling on Montreal, it would be hard to get out of town anyway! Best of luck to all players!
