WPT Super High Roller Finds Final Six

Running alongside the WPT World Championship at the Bellagio was a game for the high stakes players. The WPT Super High Roller tournament boasted of a $100,000 buy-in with reentries allowed and 12 levels of registration open. The first day of action brought in 15 players, but the eliminations of Erik Seidel, Marvin Rettenmaier, Cary Katz, and Tom Marchese left only 11 standing at the end of the night. Steven Silverman led the 11 remaining players with 962,500 chips.

Day 2 started with a rebuy from Katz, and Jason Mercier also bought in twice, as did Seidel and Jean-Norel Thorel. When registration closed, there were 21 total entries, creating a prize pool of $2,047,000. That was enough to pay out the top three players with more than $1 million going to the winner. Play ended with the final table set for May 23 as follows:

Seat 1: Joseph Cheong (1,646,000)

Seat 2: Andrew Robl(169,000)

Seat 3: James Courtney (1,690,000)

Seat 4: Steven Silverman (1,339,000)

Seat 5: Daniel Perper (164,000)

Seat 6: David Sands (1,286,000)

WSOPC National Championship Gets Underway

The end of the World Series of Poker Circuit season was almost complete but not without the grand finale – the Southern Comfort 100 Proof National Championship in New Orleans. The tournament had a $1 million guarantee and was a freeroll for players who finished atop the WSOPC leaderboard, or won a Main Event or Casino Championship along the way. Also, any of the top 100 WSOP Player of the Year earners could get in on the action for a $10K buy-in.

The field boasted of names like Vanessa Selbst, Matt Glantz, and David Baker, as well as others like Dominik Nitsche and Jason Mercier. More than 125 players were in the tournament into the evening hours but registration remained open until the start of Day 2.
