UKIPT Galway Update, GUKPT Bolton Begins Next Week

UKIPT Galway’s Fun and Frolics

Full Tilt’s UKIPT Galway entered its fifth day of action today and in amongst the pool tournaments and Pac Man contests a slew of grinders have boosted their bankrolls.

Indeed, with tournaments running throughout the day and night a host of local talent has managed to climb top of the winner’s rostrum.

So far the biggest winner of the series has been Diarmaid Kenney with an outright victory in the Galway Cup worth €12,380. However, the festival has also seen a selection of smaller winners ahead of the €1 million guaranteed Main Event which kicks off next week.

Arguably the biggest attraction of the event so far has been Gus Hansen’s Pac Man challenge. Taking place in the specially constructed leisure area, Gus has been taking on all comers at the classic arcade game.

Indeed, according to reports he’s been virtually glued to the machine for the past four days and so far has proven to be an extremely strong player.

GUKPT Bolton on the Horizon

The GUKPT will return to its natural home next week when its eighth leg of the season kicks off inside Bolton’s Grosvenor G Casino.

Having been the site of the first ever GUKPT, the casino always attracts an eager crowd of grinder keen to etch their name into the tour’s history books.

Indeed, it was in 2007 that Praz Bansi scooped the first ever GUKPT title and since then a slew of winners have lined the parade ring inside Bolton’s premier casino.

Last season it was Ben Jones who stood victorious after defeating a field of 114 runners to claim his first GUKPT title and a top prize of £17,000.

This time around the organisers are expected the Main Event field to top 200 players when the action gets underway on August 8th thanks to a host of live and online satellite.

Running alongside the four-day £550 Main Event will be a variety of side events, including a £75 PLO tournament and a £200 deepstack event, as well as a number of cash games.

A live stream of the Main Event on the GUKPT’s dedicated site will capture the action as it unfolds next week.
