UKIPT IOM Result, The Story of Isaac Haxton

McLellan Scoops UKIPT IOM Title

A weekend of action in the Main Event of UKIPT‘s first Isle of Man event produced a promising final table featuring a Dutch Olympic medallist and an employee of PokerStars. Having whittled the starting field down to just eight players an eager crop of players were left chasing Jamie O’Connor (1,243,000), but when the action kicked off earlier today the bulk of support in the room was for PokerStars Head of Team Online, Chris Jonat.

Chris managed to make it through the penultimate session with 952,000 chips and lead fellow PokerStars representative, former hockey player, Fatima Moreira De Melo (524,000). However, whilst Jonat received well wishes from the likes of Mickey Petersen it was De Melo who put on the most impressive performance to reverse her short-stacked status and claim second place and £59,660.

An event finale began with Adam Topping hitting the rail in eighth after his Ac Qd was unable to overcome the As Ks of Richard Milne. That elimination signalled the first in a long line of dashed dreams as the original eight gradually became two.

Indeed, by the time the tournament was heads-up a resurgent De Melo was aiming to overcome a dominant Duncan McLellan. A tense battle between the two ensued and neither looked like they wanted to relinquish their chips but things eventually came to a head when Del Melo moved all-in with pocket fives.

A quick call from McLellan set up a classic race but after the flop ran out Js Qh Kh the hand was virtually over. Indeed, after an academic 2c and 6s on the turn and river brought things to a close the final pot was pushed towards McLellan as well as a winner’s cheque worth £94,090.
