WPT Baden: Pick Bodo Sbrzesny

FPM logoNOTE: This player has made Day 2 play in Baden.  He ended Day 1B with a Top 5 stack for the day at over 120K.

When they signed Bodo Sbrzesny (GPI: 577) back in 2009, Party Poker was certainly dreaming of a scenario where their new German sponsored pro would be a contender in a Party Poker-sponsored event and hopefully earn a victory for the team.  Back in December, Sbrzesny was in line to do just that.

Coming into final table play as the chip leader at WPT Prague, Sbrzesny was on track for a huge payday and quite possibly, a notch in the belt for the site that signed him as a sponsored pro over three years ago.  Things didn’t go as planned however and Sbrzesny was out in third position and had to watch Marcin Wydrowski become the first person from Poland to win a WPT title.  Still, a € 143,476 payout was certainly nothing to sneeze at and Sbrzesny had collected the biggest live tournament cash of his career.

Cue Wednesday at WPT Baden, at another event presented by Party Poker.  Sbrzesny enjoyed a fine day on the felt and was even able to almost double his stack when he turned a Royal Flush during today’s play, eliminating Christian Golob in the process.  Sbrzesny ended Day 1B play with a Top 5 chip stack at 124,000.  He should be in the Top 10 when all surviving Day 1A and 1B players get together to play Day 2 on Thursday.

Is this the time where Sbrzesny finally wins a big event for Party Poker?  Only time will tell … but don’t be surprised if Sbrzesny keeps up with the lead group on Day 2 Thursday.  And at a 10,000 market price, you just cannot go wrong adding him to your team.

Bodo Sbrzesny (GER) | GPI #577 | FPM 10,000
Best WPT Baden Result: First-time event
Career WSOP, WPT, EPT: 0 wins, 6 cashes,  $271,024

Biggest Live Tournament Score: € 143,476 (3rd – WPT Prague, 2012)
Most Recent Score: € 143,476 (3rd – WPT Prague, Dec. 2012)

Why should I add Sbrzesny to my team?
> Running good: he turned a Royal Flush today!
> Playing in a Party Poker-sponsored event
> No brainer addition at that market price
