WPT Borgata Main Event in Motion

After a series of preliminary events, the Borgata Winter Open partnered with the World Poker Tour to host the Main Event. The $3,500 buy-in with reentries guaranteed a $2 million prize pool and kicked off with the first of two starting days on January 27.

Day 1A brought 397 players into action, though only 209 survived the day. Luis Vasquez was in the chip lead with 182,075 chips, and players like Jason Koon and Matt Matros were also included in the top five.

Day 1B added another 645 entries, making for a total of 1,042 and prize pool of $3,335,442. That was enough to set up payouts for the top 100 players and set aside more than $730K for the ultimate winner.
