WSOP Europe: Big Double for Big Roger, Lacay Leads PLO

The French have suddenly caught fire in their backyard as Roger Hairabedian (GPI#50) wins bracelet #2 and Ludovic Lacay (GPI#672) leads the PLO Mixed-Max Final Four:

BIG ROGER WINS AGAIN!

Roger Hairabedian GPIHairabedian’s big double came in the NLH Nine-Handed event that concluded earlier in the day. Not only did he win France’s second bracelet in this year’s WSOP Europe, Hairabedian has won the second WSOP bracelet of his poker career, both in his home country. Just one year ago, Big Roger picked up his first bracelet at WSOP Europe in the PLO event.

Sadly, Hairabedian’s victory would prevent the legendary Erik Seidel (GPI#40) from collecting his ninth WSOP bracelet. Seidel would start the day with a sizeable chip lead but would falter during heads-up play.

Mike Watson GPIGPI300 members – and fellow Canadians – Mike Watson (GPI#5) and Max Greenwood (GPI#135) were the first two players eliminated from competition on the final day of play.

LACAY LEADS PLO MIXED MAX

Ludovic Lacay GPIWe’re down to the heads-up portion of the PLO Mixed Max event and it’s yet another Frenchman, Ludovic Lacay, who will come into semi-final play with the biggest chip stack.

The defending EPT Sanremo Champ will face Vitaly Lunkin (GPI#286) – who recently won the Super High Roller event at EPT Barcelona in his half of the draw.

In the other semi-final matchup, Jyri Merivirta (GPI#3627) will face Noah Schwartz (GPI#25). Schwartz finished fourth in the other Mixed Max event presented here in Enghien-les-Bains just a few short days ago, in no-limit hold’em.

SEMI-FINALS:
Ludovic Lacay, FRA (667,500 chips) v Vitaly Lunkin, RUS (112,500 chips)
Jyri Merivirta, FIN (183,500 chips) v Noah Schwartz, USA (179,000 chips)
