WSOPC Main Event Begins, Yang Wins ACOP Warm-Up

WSOPC Hammond Main Event Underway

The World Series of Poker Circuit was at the Horseshoe in Hammond, Indiana, for its latest stop, and the $1,675 buy-in Main Event got underway on Friday. And for an unusual change of pace, the Main Event had a $2 million guarantee.

Day 1A brought in 765 players, though only 98 of them made it through the night of 17 levels. Kevin Davis was the chip leader with 689,500 chips. The second starting day attracted another 952 players, pushing the grand total to 1,717 players and a resulting prize pool of $2,575,500, which was a new record for the WSOP Circuit. That night ended with only 126 players from Day 1B and Michael Hale in the lead with 510K chips.

Day 2 brought back 224 players and burst through the money bubble so the final 189 players could be paid. By the dinner break, only 50 players remained, and Kevin Eyster was the chip leader with a stack of 2.14 million.

Yang Wins ACOP Warm-Up, Tan among Side Event Winners

One of the biggest events at the 2013 Asia Championship of Poker in Macau – at the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room, of course – was the HK $25K buy-in NLHE Warm-Up tournament. It started last week with a total of 338 players and HK $7,540,780 prize pool, well over the HK $5 million guarantee.

Day 2 started with 145 survivors, and that number was whittled down to 40 by the start of Day 3. The money bubble quickly burst so the top 38 players could be paid, and play continued until the final table was set with Jian Yang as the solid chip leader.

The final day of action saw Yang continue through with his momentum and grab the title, along with HK $1.7 million in cash to go with the Spadie trophy.

Final table results:

1st place: Jian Yang (HK $1,700,000)

2nd place: Wei Hsiang Yeu (HK $1,170,000)

3rd place: David Foran (HK $695,000)

4th place: Billy Argyros (HK $547,000)

5th place: Roger Spets (HK $434,000)

6th place: Steven Zhou (HK $358,000)

7th place: Tom Alner (HK $283,000)

8th place: Saehoon Lee (HK $208,000)

9th place: Paul Cheng (HK $170,000)

Other tournaments wrapped at the 2013 ACOP as well, including the HK $11,000 KO Big Bounty event, for which Ken Demlakian won HK $349,400 for the win, not to mention another HK $32,000 for the 16 bounties he collected.

The HK $15,000 PLO Championship attracted 92 players, and it was Edison Nguyen who won the title and split the top prize money evenly with second-place finisher Pakinai Lisawad, each taking home HK $273,100.

And The HK $8,800 Ladies Asia Championship found 21 participants, out of which Jay Tan won the top prize of HK $65,200.
