WSOPE High Roller: Negreanu Wins Bracelet, WSOP PoY
It didn’t end the way Kid Poker would have wanted it to end in the Main Event, but, he surely made up for lost time in the High Roller event …
NEGREANU PICKS SIXTH
Once Matthew Ashton was eliminated from play in the WSOP Europe High Roller bracelet event, all Daniel Negreanu (GPI#8) had to do to earn his second World Series of Poker Player of the Year title was finish eighth in the event.
Negreanu did better than that – he went on to win the event outright and proving there was no doubt that the PoY title was all his.
A tip of the cap must go to up-and-coming star Nicolau Villa-Lobos (GPI#470) who finished second to Negreanu in the event. The Brazilian actually held the chip lead at one point during heads-up play. More will be expected of Villa-Lobos who will more than likely find his way into the GPI300 when the rankings are released next Thursday … speaking of rankings, Philipp Gruissem and David Peters, who currently find themselves ranked 16th and 17th respectively could also receive a bump up from their third and fourth place finishes here in Enghien-les-Bains.
