Yong Talks Poker, Eurovegas Plans Could be Scrapped

Yong Could Leave Poker

Dusk Till Dawn owner Rob Yong could walk away from poker in the next six months if he’s unable to change a small piece of the poker landscape.

Having been in charge of Europe’s largest live poker venue for the past seven years, Yong has now turned his attentions to the online poker world in a bid to change the way the game is played.

After penning a blog post that focused on the current state of poker, Yong has said that if his new venture can’t affect some sort of change he’ll leave the industry.

Speaking with Pokernews Editor Matthew Pitt, Yong explained how he is unhappy with the influence of HUDs and other tracking devices have had on poker and  now wants to see the virtual tables become more like live cash games.

Taking a stance against the “math guys”, Yong believes the key to poker’s continued success is having personalities like Tony G, Mike Matusow and Sam Trickett being there so the “average guy on the street can identify with them“.

Yong’s comments are bound to stir up a discussion amongst those in the industry who are pitched on both sides of the fence. However, regardless of the overall impact of Rob’s proposed departure, it’s clear that poker is undergoing somewhat of a revolution at the moment and the GPI is certainly one of the companies working to make it a better game for all.

Eurovegas Plans Going Up in Smoke

Sheldon Adelson’s Eurovegas project could fall through due to continued disputes surrounding Spain’s smoking laws.

Since proposing the multi-million dollar project Adelson has stressed that the indoor anti-smoking laws will affect the success of the casino complex.

At first it seemed as though Adelson was prepared to accept some kind of compromise with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy; however, according to Poker10, it could be the case that if Adelson doesn’t get his wish he’ll cancel the project altogether.

Another reason for Adelson’s apparent reluctance to go ahead with the project is the fact Madrid was unsuccessful in its bid for the 2020 Olympic Games.

With a major influx of investment and exposure now unavailable, there is speculation that Adelson will now set up a new casino complex in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City and capitalise on the growing Asian market.

Regardless of the reasons it now seems European grinders may miss out on one of the most ambitious casino projects outside of the US and Asia.
