Moorman Wins Big at WPT L.A. Poker Classic

After dominating the online poker world, Chris Moorman wins his first major title on the live circuit…

MOORMAN CONQUERS LOS ANGELES

Chris Moorman WPTNo one said it would be easy. Chris Moorman (GPI#255) would enter final table play at the WPT L.A. Poker Classic as one of the favourites, yet, getting to the top of the podium would prove to be a difficult task.

With others at the table trying to pry the victory away from Moorman’s hands, especially young American pro Michael Rocco, Moorman would grab the chip lead fairly early before seeing that lead disappear at the hands of sudden rival Rocco.

The two duked it out throughout the night, with Glenn Lafaye (GPI#2875) also getting involved from time to time including an explosive hand where all three finalists were all-in with the loser almost assuredly having to settle for third. Moorman would hit broadway on the river and would breathe a sigh of relief following Rocco’s elimination in third place.

Moorman would grab the chip lead from Lafaye once heads-up play began and it was the beginning of the end. Chris Moorman is the latest member of the WPT Champions Club.

TONS OF ACTION ON THE WPT

The action heats up on the World Poker Tour as Monday sees the start of two events, on each side of the ocean … in Italy, the Gioco Digitale WPT Venice Carnival is set to begin as Rocco Palumbo (GPI#277) heads to the Casino di Venezia to defend his title.

Meanwhile, the California Swing continues in San Jose as the popular WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star also kicks off on Monday. 50 of the game’s biggest stars are set to offer themselves up as bounties as tons of local qualifiers will do battle with the pros in search for the next WPT Champion.
