partypoker Premier League Moves to Canada

partypoker has announced that the Premier League VII will take place in Montreal, the first time the event will be held in Canada.

BIG NAMES COMING

Dan Shak GPIIf last year’s lineup looks anything like what we will see November 20-26, some of the biggest names of poker will enter the halls of the Playground Poker Club in the hopes of becoming the newest Premier League champion. Last year’s edition, held at Aspers Casino Stratford in the UK, was won by Dan Shak … Shak defeated the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Marvin Rettenmaier, Jason Mercier, Phil Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari, Sam Trickett and French-Canadian superstar Jonathan Duhamel, who would receive home-field advantage should he decide to play this year’s event, in his backyard.

ENTER THE PLAYGROUND

The Playground has quickly grown into one of North America’s hottest poker rooms. The Premier League will run just days before the Playground hosts partypoker WPT Montreal, which ended up being one the biggest events ever in the World Poker Tour’s history … this year, the event will also become part of the televised rotation, so, expect even bigger numbers this time around! You can bet that WPT Player of the Year runner-up Jonathan Roy will be there to defend his crown.

The $125,000 buy-in event, which groups the 16 entrants into two pools of eight players each, has its first entry. Fresh off his work with the Lithuanian National Basketball team, the “oh so good for TV” – and accomplished poker pro – Antanas Guoga … better known as Tony G to the masses … has already put his hat in the ring. Oh, and it looks like G is already in mid-season form, said G: “Some people say I don’t have the heart and commitment for the game anymore but that would be a big mistake. Playground Poker Club and PartyPoker.com Premier League will be my playground and I’ll be all fired up!”
