Former Leader Busts in Deauville, £2.4 Million on offer on the GUKPT in 2014

EPT Deauville Latest

Having watched just over 200 players whittle themselves down to 134 players on Monday, Tuesday’s second opening session in Deauville welcomed 434 runners to the felt for the EPT’s €5,300 Main Event.

Having virtually doubled Day 1A’s total, Day 1B saw the likes of Bertrand Grospellier, Luca Pagano, Praz Bansi, Jake Cody and reigning champion, Remi Castaignon, all set off on their mission for EPT glory.

Such a bustling field meant a number of high profile casualties throughout the day, including the aforementioned champion Castaignon and by the time the session had come to a close the number of survivors stood at 258.

While a many fell a few rose and the player managed to climb the highest on Day 1B was Lebanese pop star, Ayman Zbib. Thanks to a strong surge throughout the latter stages of the day, Zbib ended the session with 181,400 chips was more than enough to finish ahead of such luminaries as Ludovic Geilich (142,000), James Mitchell (99,200), Martin Staszko (96,500) and Stephen Chidwick (79,600).

With Zbib leading the way into Day 2, the latest session kicked off earlier and even before the first break a number of high profile eliminations have taken place. Indeed, at the time of writing the likes of Kevin MacPhee, former chip leader Zbib and Morten Mortensen have all found their way to the rail.
