GPI Tournament Report: ANZPT, WSOPC, UKIPT, LAPC, HPT + More

ANZPT PERTH

We’re only a few months into the 2014 poker season and Patrick Mahoney (GPI#851) has already crossed the 100K USD mark for the third time of his poker career. The Minnesota pro took down the ANZPT Perth title over the weekend, earning his second victory on the live tournament circuit. Mahoney has collected over 3M USD in tournament earnings online.

Mahoney defetead Dean Blatt (GPI#1859) heads-up for the title while Scott Davies (GPI#1003) finished third.

WSOP CIRCUIT LAS VEGAS

It’s been a good start to the season for Minnesota poker players! Christian Pham (GPI#4796) joins Mahoney in the winner’s circle this week following his win at WSOP Circuit Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. A +1M USD prize pool awaited those in the money with Pham picking up the biggest piece of the pie, collecting over 210K USD for the win.

Pham would go on to defeat former WSOPC Robinsonville Main Event winner Jonathan Gaviao (GPI#1420) heads-up for the title. Multiple circuit ring winner Nancy Birnbaum (GPI#1108) was sixth.

UKIPT DUBLIN

Max Silver (GPI#70) came close to collecting his second UKIPT title at UKIPT Dublin on Monday. The UK pro would lose to Kevin Killeen (GPI#20639) heads-up after Silver had carried the play for most of the final day. The news isn’t all bad for Silver, who adds another € 53,700 to his 2014 winnings.

Silver, who was featured in our GPI PROfile series earlier today, finished 9th in the 2014 PCA Main Event to start the 2014 season.

LAPC PRELIMS

While we wait for a winner in the WPT Main Event, Paul Volpe (GPI#15) was one of several big name pros to win a prelim event at the L.A. Poker Classic. Volpe collected the W in the 5K NLH prelim event, defeating Andrew Lichtenberger (GPI#93) heads-up for the title.

Tyler Reiman (GPI#314), who finished 4th in the 5K event, Bryce Yockey (GPI#2885), Adam Weinraub (GPI#4315) and Keven Stammen (GPI#66) are a few other name players who have collected side event victories at the LAPC.

HEARTLAND ST. LOUIS

Four months after finishing third at HPT Iowa, Terry Ring (GPI#2790) was finally able to seal the deal and pickup his first victory on the Heartland Poker Tour, winning HPT Missouri late on Monday. Ring, who also won on the Mid-States Poker Tour in April of 2013, would earn the first six-figure payout of his career.

Former 2011 WSOP NLH Triple Chance runner-up Darryl Ronconi (GPI#390) and former HPT Missouri champ Roger Campbell (GPI#1854) final tabled the event. Meanwhile, rising star Ari Engel (GPI#91) and former WSOP World Champion Greg Raymer (GPI#738) earned Top 15 finishes in the event.

WPT NATIONAL LONDON

Laurence Houghton (GPI#9079) has won WPT National London, defeating Arvin Ravindran (GPI#57924) for his first-ever victory on the live tournament circuit.

A week after final tabling the SkyPoker UK Poker Championship, Charles Chattha (GPI#764) was back at it, finishing 4th in the WPTN event. James Mitchell (GPI#491) would be the first player out at the final table.

HOLLYWOOD OPEN GRANTVILLE REGIONAL

Bradley Yazici (GPI#4149) won the latest stop on the Hollywood Poker Open Regional Championship tour at the Hollywood Casino in Grantville, Pennsylvania. Yazici defeated John Kostelac (GPI#28675) heads-up for the title.
