GPI Tournament Report: Barcelona, Los Angeles, Melbourne + More

We take you to Barcelona, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Atlantic City, Jacksonville and France in this week’s GPI Tournament Recap:

EPT BARCELONA

Over 1,200 runners tried their best to become the latest champion on the European Poker Tour. In the end, it’s the UK’s Tom Middleton (GPI#1560) who beat them all. Middleton, who does already have a few wins on tour, more than doubled his career earnings with the big win.

Daniel Negreanu GPIWhile Middleton was battling for Main Event supremacy, the High Roller event was also playing down to a winner and huge names were in the hunt. Thomas Muehloecker (GPI#672) with Daniel Negreanu (GPI#7) (pictured, right) finishing second. Joni Jouhkimainen (GPI#84), Jonathan Duhamel (GPI#27), Ole Schemion (GPI#10) and upcoming November Niner David Benefield (GPI#228) all final tabled the event.

WPT LEGENDS OF POKER

Phil Laak GPIIt was the young upstarts vs. the wily veterans at the WPT Legends of Poker and in the end, rising star Jordan Cristos (GPI#571) collected the biggest win of his poker career, outlasting a 716-player field.

All eyes were on Phil Laak (GPI#447) who was seeking redemption from his sixth place finish at the WPT Legends ten years ago. Laak (pictured, right) would do one better than he did in 2003, finishing in fifth position.

APPT MELBOURNE

Jonathan Karamalikis GPI“The Croc” Billy Argyros (GPI#1849) was the big winner at APPT Melbourne, finishing first out of 309. Third place finisher David Yan (GPI#560) finished sixth at the Aussie Millions earlier this season.

Popular Australian pro Jonathan Karamalikis (GPI#272) bubbled the final table in the event. Known to many as xMONSTERxDONGx, Karamalikis (pictured, right) has collected just under 5M USD in winnings online.

BORGATA POKER OPEN 1K SIDE EVENT

Will Failla GPIWhile we wait for the start of the WPT Borgata Poker Open Main Event, the 1K side event was being played out over the weekend.

Fan favourite Will “The Thrill” Failla (GPI#85) picked up the big win in Atlantic City, Failla’s (pictured, right) first win on tour since April, where he won a Deepstack Turbo event, also at the Borgata, during the Spring Poker Open.

Second place finisher Jonas Wexler (GPI#684) won the Parx Casino Big Stax Poker Series II in Pennsylvania this past May.

CPPT bestbet JACKSONVILLE

CPPT JaxAmerican Harvey Vandeven (GPI#15620) is your winner at the latest CardPlayer Poker Tour stop at bestbet Jacksonville in the State of Florida.

Vandeven defeated Tim Miles (GPI#2234) heads-up. Meanwhile, young star Stephen Bokor (GPI#244) finished 14th in the event.

BARRIERE TOUR LILLE

Laurent Polito GPIThe latest stop on the Barriere Poker Tour was in Lille, France where Malik Nouri (GPI#23121) earning his first official victory on the live tournament poker circuit.

Ninth place finisher Laurent Polito (GPI#874) was the defending EPT Barcelona High Roller Champion until losing the title this past weekend. Polito (pictured, right) is also the defending  Euro Finals of Poker WPT National Series Champion.
